What is WordCamp Europe

Now in its 8th year, WordCamp Europe is an informal, community-organised gathering of WordPress enthusiasts – from casual users to Core developers – where we discuss all things WordPress, share ideas and get to know each other.

What is WordCamp Europe Online?

This year, we are making history by hosting WordCamp Europe 2020 Online – the first ever fully virtual WCEU.

What is WordPress anyway?

WordPress is the world’s largest Content Management System, powering over 35% of all the sites on the web, including those of the White House, Mercedes-Benz… and even Beyoncé. Not only is WordPress the world’s largest CMS, but it’s also open source – essentially that means it’s free to use!

What can I expect to see, hear and do at WordCamp Europe?

There’s always a lot going on at WordCamp Europe and this year’s online event will be no different. From the many talks taking place across the two days, to the virtual networking rooms, plus the chance to give back to the community and pick up new skills at the first ever virtual Contributor Day, there will be plenty of ways to take part.

A full schedule of sessions will be published soon which will allow you to choose which topics interest you. Typically there will be a broad selection of subjects aimed at all levels of WordPress knowledge and experience, following the inclusivity ethos we firmly believe in. We run multiple talks at the same time and split them into ‘tracks’, so you’ll see references to ‘track 1’ and ‘track 2’; this helps everyone navigate the schedule and the venue!

In addition to the talks and the chance to chat with other members of the WordPress community, we have a large number of sponsors who you can meet and talk to – from very large companies right through to smaller niche ones. Our Sponsors page (coming soon) will detail who will be at the event in June.

I’d like to contribute in some way, is that possible?

Oh yes! In addition to the two days of talks and workshops, WordCamp Europe Online includes Contributor Day which takes place on 4 June, the day before the beginning of the conference.

This event is designed to give conference attendees the opportunity to give back to the WordPress community in real-time by coding, writing, troubleshooting, and documenting WordPress with teams of like-minded people.

To take part you will need to select the Contributor Day option when registering for your ticket to WCEU 2020 Online. As with the main event, tickets to Contributor Day tickets are free, but there are a limited number available so don’t wait too long to sign up!

I’m new to WordPress, will it all be too advanced for me?

In a word, no. We work hard to ensure that the sessions cater for all abilities and levels of knowledge.

Every year we have people coming along who have only just started with WordPress as well as those who have been using it from the beginning.

Remember, everyone started on their WordPress journey as a newbie too!

I like to meet people and network, is WordCamp Europe for me?

Absolutely! Although we may not be meeting in person this year, but with thousands of attendees and numerous sponsors to virtually meet, this is totally the event for you!

Whether it’s taking the chance to chat to someone you’ve followed on Twitter, in user groups or to catch up with a familiar face from a previous WordCamp, WCEU 2020 Online is the ideal place to meet friends – old and new.

In addition to the tracks of talks, there will be virtual networking rooms where you can meet our sponsors, take part in product demos and chat with other attendees.

OK, I’m convinced, what next?

Get your ticket and we’ll see you online in June!
