Get ready for Contributor Day!

WordCamp Europe 2020 Online Contributor Day is getting closer! Together we will be making WordPress history, as this will be the biggest fully virtual Contributor Day so far. How exciting!

The WCEU team has worked tirelessly to create a welcoming event, to ensure both new and experienced contributors have a great time working together to improve WordPress.

Especially with new contributors in mind, we have prepared a set of onboarding guides and arranged a set of special office hours with Contributor Day teams to help everyone get ready for the big day.

Times and practical information

Contributor Day will take place on 4 June 2020, 13:00 – 18:00 UTC. You can use a time converter tool online to check the times in your timezone.

Shortly before the event, we will send an email to all registered attendees with all the information that you will need to take part.

Contributor Day team introductions

Each Contributor Day team has recorded a small introduction message to those who want to find out more about what each team does.

We hope that these videos will help you choose which team you’d like to join and also give you a better idea of the size of the WordPress project.

Find the videos on the Contributor Day page.

Contributor Day team office hours

To help you get started some Contributor Day teams are hosting special office hours in the Making WordPress Slack. These office hours are a great opportunity to get to know the team you will be working with! Experienced contributors will be available to answer any questions and to help you get set up with any tools you might need.

If you are unfamiliar with Slack, we have prepared a video instruction and written step-by-step guide on how to join the Making WordPress Slack.

The guides cover a number of topics. For example, getting familiar with Trello and the bug tracking systems used in many parts of the WordPress project, installing the VVV and Docker local development environment, and how to start translating WordPress.
