Diversity matters

Our inspirational WordPress Community

Since the conception of WordCamp Europe, each WCEU organising team has been guided by the fundamental objective of balanced representation on the stage, reflecting our society and the WordPress community to which we belong.

We are proud to say that WordCamp Europe is an inclusive, accessible and diverse event.

Last year’s event was the most diverse WCEU yet, but we’re not resting on our laurels: we want to do even more in terms of diversity and we know we can achieve this with your help.

Nominate speakers, or nominate yourself!

We need your help to ensure this is the most diverse WCEU to date!

Nominate

Do you know someone who would be brilliant on stage? Use this form to suggest them, especially if they’re from groups that may not typically have wide representation at tech events. We’ll try to reach out to as many nominees as possible.

Encourage

Encourage that person in your network, who – whether or not they belong to the WordPress community – has something to share at WCEU. They may just need a little push to apply, and your encouraging word could make all the difference. Send them the link to the speaker application and workshop application and remind them they’ll be participating in this amazing, welcoming community!

Apply

Alternatively, if you are reading this post, and you belong to a group that normally has little representation at tech events like WCEU, we’d love for you to apply, as well!

We invite submissions from members of historically marginalised groups, including – but not limited to – people of colour, the LGBTQ+ community, minorities, people with disabilities, and people identifying as women or non-binary. We all belong in this welcoming community, and we all belong on that stage!

Apply to speak, apply to host a workshop, or suggest someone who should. We are counting on you!

Thank you!

  1. I don’t know it I am “rare” enough. But I am a Norwegian viking (we are just 5 million people, and nobody else speak our languange) with brown eyes and brown hair 🙂 (doesn’t quite fit the image of all norwegian girls are blonde and blue-eyed), wordpress-designer, who just have started giving cources in WordPress for entrepreneurs. Anyways. I am supershy, and normally wouldn’t dare to put myself out there. But I just started my own company, and this first year my goal is to face my fears. I have never spoken in public. I am 42 years old. But I love my job, and I love WordPress. I would love to speak about WordPress and Elementor. And design/UX/UI.

    1. Hi Jannicke! Thanks for introducing yourself. We hope you’ll be brave and apply to speak – we would love to consider you along with others who have overcome their fears this year!
